Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib

The historic fortress atop Anandpur Sahib where Guru Gobind Singh Ji initiated the Panj Pyare with Khande Di Pahul on Vaisakhi 1699, manifesting the immortal order of the Khalsa.

Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib crowns the hill fortress of Anandpur Sahib (The City of Bliss). On Vaisakhi day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Ji summoned a gathering of 80,000 devotees and drew his gleaming sword, asking for five dedicated heads for Dharam. Five brave devotees stepped forward—becoming the Panj Pyare. Guru Ji stirred the nectar (Amrit) in an iron bowl with a double-edged Khanda while Mata Jito Ji added sugar crystals (Patashas). Guru Ji then knelt before them to receive Amrit himself, erasing all distinctions of caste and birth forever.
